Theory of Intrinsic Josephson Effects in High-T-c Superconductors

Intrinsic Josephson effects and infrared conductivities along the c-axis in cuprate-superconductors are calculated from a microscopic theory of coupled superconducting layers. In this model each layer is described by a two-dimensional Fermi liquid, while the interlayer coupling is mediated by thermally activated incoherent tunneling processes. We consider d-wave pairing and discuss various anomalies in the c-axis transport properties related to the d-symmetry of the order parameter.
