The Vermont Foodways Digital Initiative is a pilot project of the University of Vermont. The project, a digital collection of primary material that explores the culture and food traditions of Vermont, was conceived and designed as an educational tool for undergraduate and graduate students. This column will discuss the selection, organization, and technical components that went into the design of the project, as well as details on how the project has been used in student research since its launch in 2011.
