Environmentally-friendly use of geothermal energy in Poland

This paper not only describes the benefits of geothermal energy use, but also shows the threats of large capital intensity of the investment, along with the ways to neutralize them. Particularly resource management methods to get additional benefits beside heating system were described. Addendum to the paper describes a history of a geothermal heating plant in Stargard Szczecinski, which has not been successful, despite of having favorable geological conditions. This example shows that in spite of benefits coming from use of geothermal energy, realization of such investments is not always cost effective.
