摘要：
The cytological evidence indicates a significant role of heterochromatin in the chromosomal evolution of Chironomids. The change in heterochromatin due to amplification and transformation of euchromatin is considered. Its significance in the formation of species with a reduced chromosome set is shassed. A high frequency of chromosome aberrations in heterochromatin sites is shown. A position effect variegation is discussed.
