TRIBES AND NATIONAL-INTEGRATION IN INDIA

'Integration' is equally necessary for the tribes and the non-tribes. In fact, given the historical framework and the present circumstances, integration seems to be the only practical approach. 'Integration' of tribes however, is not an isolated process. It is inextricably linked with the larger goal of national integration and the ideals enshrined therein, namely, economic development and social justice. Integration should imply not simply the integration of the tribes with the rest of the society, but the transformation of the whole society and its integration into a new social order, namely, the socialist pattern of society.
