russUsing published accounts as well as interviews and recollections of American scholars who were at Soviet universities collected by the author the paper analyses Soviet-American scholarly and educational exchanges and the exchange of knowledge between Soviet and American scholars. The main question to be discussed is how Americans perceived Soviet way of life and the system of Soviet academic institutions and higher schools.
