'Carnival lasts all year': Popular Traditions and Counter-culture in the Spanish Transition

The generalized experimentalism of the Spanish 70's and 80's is often thought in terms of 'modernization' and 'Transition to Democracy'. But it is also the moment when some symbolic rests of rural and traditional cultures and deeply changed by the massive migration to cities were rescued by some avant-garde artists and young underground practices. The article proposes a contribution to that way of study, analyzing how the traditional culture was revisited by avant-garde and young counter-culture.
