摘要：
The nature of data generated by analytical chemists has changed significantly over the past two decades. Traditional wet chemistry has been largely replaced by spectroscopy and chromatography. Most of the data produced by these techniques are multivariate-ie each sample analysed yields a series of numbers, which are a function of the data type. Modern instruments can produce a large number of data in a short period of time and problems can occur in extracting and interpreting the relevant analytical information. Computerised data analysis now offers a practical way of addressing these problems.
