The article analyses the reflection of the historical past of England in the works by Polydore Vergil, an Italian scholar an humanist, commissioned by the first Tudors. The work by Polydore Vergil began the synthesis of the Renaissance style of history writing with the traditions of English chronicles. It responded to the demand for a new interpretation of national history.
