IMAGING OF AN UNDIFFERENTIATED EPIDERMOID CARCINOMA WITH TC-99M MIBI

摘要
Tc-99m MIBI scintigraphy to detect recurrence and/or metastases was performed in a 49-year-old man who underwent surgery for undifferentiated epidermoid carcinoma located at the infratemporal region. Tc-99m MIBI scintigrams revealed increased accumulation of radioactivity that was suggestive of recurrence of the tumor in the temporo-occipital bone and lower cervical vertebrae. This corresponded well to abnormal radioactivity accumulation seen on the Ga-67 scan of the head. Cranial and cervical MRI confirmed recurrence of the tumor. The authors conclude that Tc-99m MIBI can be used to detect and locate the recurrence of an undifferentiated epidermoid carcinoma.
