摘要
Background: The heterogeneous painful symptom complex of the failed back surgery syndrome (FBSS) is difficult to diagnose and to treat. Scientific focus on FBSS indicates its importance in clinical practice. Method: Within the scope of evidence based practice a literature research for to date published articles in English and German concerning non-invasive conservative treatment of FBSS was performed in Pubmed and Pedro. Results: 12 publications with an evidence level IV to Ib were included in this literature review. Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) produced best evidence. In addition, manual therapy interventions and active movement therapy within multidisciplinary treatment concept seem to be supportive. Conclusion: Within physiotherapy treating FBSS with TENS is considered as state of the art.
