摘要
We investigated the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis in 12 asthmatic children treated with inhaled flunisolide (1,600-mu-g/day) over a two-month period and in 13 asthmatic subjects receiving no cortico-steroid therapy. Levels of serum cortisol, response to adrenocorticotropic hormone, 24-hour urinary free cortisol, and 17-hydroxy-corticosteroid showed no significant difference between the two groups. Carbohydrate and lipid metabolism were not affected by flunisolide therapy. These results indicate that inhaled flunisolide in the above dose, administered over a two-month period, does not induce suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis.
