Medical fee schedule, outpatient surgery, and expert opinions

The current version of the instructions issued by the accident insurance providers pertaining to processing doctors' bills is the result of cooperation between the German Statutory Accident Insurance (DGUV), their regional associations and the umbrella organization of the employers' liability insurance association for the agricultural sector. These recommendations should be treated as explanatory notes and serve to ensure transparency in auditing bills since they are readily available to everyone via the Internet. The DGUV expressly approves performance of outpatient surgeries and is willing to undertake appropriate adjustments to the fees for the applicable items in the medical fee schedule for doctors and DGUV physicians. The working group on assessing occupational accidents is formulating new guidelines and standards. In this connection there is evident willingness to adapt the fees for preparing expert opinions.
