The State and the market economy today

This paper intends to explain how Brazilian law and institutions are dealing with contemporary economic problems. Such public policies as antitrust policy, consumer policy, and the regime of intellectual property are briefly outlined and commented upon, in order to explain their current stage of development in that country. As the paper makes clear, all of these policies have been subjected to extensive review as Brasil is facing the effects of the worldwide economic crisis.
