摘要
Infrared spectral investigation of some borate glasses in the frequency range 200 cm(-1)-4000 cm(-1) has been done. The borate glasses were prepared by using chemicals Bi2O3, ZnO and B2O3. No boroxyl ring formation is observed in the structure of these glasses. The absence of 806 cm(-1) frequency is attributed to the progressive substitution of boroxol rings by triborate and tetraborate groups. The interconnection between the spaces of BO3 and BO4 is observed. The small structural change has been observed with the addition of ZnO impurity in Bi2O3-B2O3 glass. Similarly tetrahedral formation of zinc is not observed which generally occurs in zinc containing glasses.
