ZERO RESISTANCE AT 97-K WITH METALLIC OUT-OF-PLANE BEHAVIOR IN BI2SR2CACU2O8 SINGLE-CRYSTALS

In this paper, we report on the electrical resistivity of Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8 single crystals, both in the ab-plane and along the c-axis. The samples show metallic behaviour in both directions and an anisotropy ratio (rho(c)/rho(ab) approximate to 170 at room temperature) lower than what is currently known in the literature. Furthermore, zero resistance is obtained at 97 K, the highest T-c(0) reported so far for this compound. We discuss these properties in terms of an interplane coupling that would be stronger than what is normally obtained in this compound.
