EFFECT OF SUPPLEMENTING A UREA-MINERAL MOLASSES BLOCK (UMMB) ON BLOOD BIOCHEMICAL-CONSTITUENTS IN BUFFALO CALVES FED WHEAT STRAW BASED DIETS

摘要
Feeding a urea molasses mineral block (UMMB) in the form of a lick to growing buffalo calves maintained on a wheat straw basad diet (II) did not affect plasma creatinine levels when compared with a control (I) or UMMB plus 100 g fish meal (III) per animal per day supplemented diets. However, the levels of blood glucose, plasma calcium, alkaline phosphatase and total plasma protein were significantly (P < 0.01) higher in groups II and III than those of the control group (I) which may be associated with the better performance and growth of these calves.
