HAURTXO STUDY - REFERENCE VALUES OF URINARY-EXCRETION OF OXALIC-ACID IN PEDIATRIC AGE

The oxalic acid urinary excretion reference values (24 hours urine speciments) have been established. 207 normal children, 3 to 14 years aged, were the studied population sample. The oxaluria (mg/24 hours) increased with age and was different for males and females. When it was expressed in relation to body surface area (mg/24 hours/1.73 m2) these variations desapeared We found similar results to other previous reports (males xBAR +/- sd = 23.63 +/- 7 mg/24 hours/1.73 m2; females xBAR +/- sd = 26.35 +/- 9.4 mg/24 hours/1.73 m2). There was significant but not good enough correlation between the urinary excretion of oxalic acid and calcium, citric acid and uric acid.
