摘要：
Diabetes mellitus (DM) is one of the fastest deadly growing diseases around the world and prostate cancer (CaP) is one of the most common types of cancer among men and it has the highest mortality after lung cancer in the United States of America (USA). It is interesting that epidemiologic evidence suggests that the occurrence of DM is related to a decreased CaP risk. The cause of this association remains largely unknown. DM and CaP are influenced by many factors, e.g.: environmental, hormonal, immunological and genetic. The aim of this study was to underline the role of certain factors that may influence the inverse relationship between prostate cancer and diabetes and to asses the currently proposed hypotheses for understanding the mecha-nism of this process.
