摘要：

This article introduces some of the problems of industrial pollution in China that could be reduced through the use of cleaner production methods. In addition to describing some progress that has already been made in changing management strategies, it analyzes some misinterpretations about the potential of both new and end-of-pipe technologies. The authors conclude by stressing the need to develop policies that not only benefit all sectors involved but deal adequately with the challenge of strengthening institutions.
