摘要
Fatigue crack propagation (FCP) rates in air for AISI type H13 hot work tool steel were measured over the temperature range of 300 to 600-degrees-C. The frequency-dependent apparent activation energy for thermally activated crack growth was found to be lower than that for oxygen diffusion in ferrite. It is that this is the consequence of stress gradients at the crack tip which cause diffusion processes to be position dependent.
