摘要
Substantial refinement of the microstructure is reached by enforcement of the homogenous nucleation during the hot pressing of the starting powder dopped with amorphous silicon nitride. Fine and dense Si3N4 ceramics is prepared, microstructure of this ceramics is characterized with the grains < 1 um, density is > 0.98 T.D. Preliminary measurements reveal high hardness (up to 18 GPa) and fracture tough-less (up to 8 MPa.m(1/2)) of such a ceramics.
