摘要
In a traditional division, aesthetics, epistemology and social issues are different theoretical fields. Although these fields relate frequently in literature, they are seldom as united as in the philosophy of John Dewey. For this author, the Enlightenment more poetic sense, understanding of the world is aesthetic, and scientific knowledge presupposes ultimately, the typical artist's intuition. In this unitary view of knowledge and of human nature, the socio-economic structure is largely responsible for the breakup, in philosophy and culture in general, between truth and beauty. This text is a brief review of Dewey's philosophy and, indirectly, the intuitive unity that characterizes the early decades of philosophical pragmatism.
