Previous studies by the authors are taken as north, referenced by literacy and continuing education for youth and adults and processes of exclusion / inclusion. The question that guides the development of the text is whether literacy can be conceived as a social and individual benefit, capable of transforming exclusive realities and promoting inclusion. The text is organized with testimonials from students, obtained through interviews, focus groups and rounds of conversations, conducted in different school contexts. We conclude that the literacy learning of young people and adults is configured as a possibility of the individual achieve, their wishes and their everyday needs, becoming a social and human being more dignified, happy and socially included.
