USE OF SPEECH ANALIZER FOR THE TEACHING OF SPANISH ORTHOPHONIC, PHONETICS AND PHONOLOGY

The use of the Speech Analizer is presented for (1) the study of pronunciation, (2) the study of phonetics and, (3) the study of some phonological problems. In (1) the possibilities are shown for the digital waveform visualization, cutting and splicing and the later audition of the perceptual test, it is also presented the calculation of the espectrogram and the measurements of the tonal height for the studies of stress and intonation. The cutting and splicing and the perceptual test are important for the pronunciation of the Spanish vibrants and velars in the production of native French speakers; also, it is important for the correction of vocal reduction in native English speakers. In (2) these techniques are used for the description of the suprasegmental features, stress and intonation. In (3) the program is used for the experimental study of some phonological problems such the contextual variants of voiced stops.
