By invoking a thin substrate approximation, accurate spatial-domain expressions for the Green's functions, G(e) and G(m), of microstrip structures in a magneto-dielectric substrate are derived. The expression for G(m) is given in terms of a quasidynamic solution corresponding to a point source and its partial images, while that of G(e) is derived in terms of a quasidynamic contribution plus a correction term. It is demonstrated that the addition of the correction term is needed in order to accurately calculate G(e) in the near field. (C) 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
