摘要
Medicinal plants have been used since ancient times as medicines for the treatment of a wide range of diseases. Morinda citrifolia L (Noni) has been used in folk remedies by Polynesians for over 2000 years, and is reported to have a broad range of therapeutic effects, including effects against headache, fever, arthritis, gingivitis, respiratory disorders, infections, tuberculosis and diabetes, it is commonly used as herbal medicines and cosmetics. This study aimed to map the research undertaken, analyzing the potential and the evolution of technological capabilities through the translated patent applications with regard to the Moringa. Prospecting was carried out in the European Patent Office, in the database of World Intellectual Property Organization, in the database of United States Patent and Trademark Office and in the database of Instituto Nacional de Propriedade Intelectual of the Brazil. The international classification most abundant is the subsection A61 and especially in subclass A61K, followed by A61P and A61Q. Among the main depositors are the United States and Japain. The data show a promising area, with growth of relevant patents
