摘要：
The boundary-element method (BEM) is used to study the so-called circle-polygon paradox of simply supported thin plates under uniform pressure. A collocation approach is used to show that the correct assumption of boundary conditions for this problem eliminates the paradox. The computational efficiency of the method is discussed and its simplicity emphasized.
