摘要
As dicarboxylates from chelates the resin prepared from styrene and maleic anhydride shows preference for the uptake of calcium ions in static and dynamic conditions at neutral and alkaline pH over magnesium. The resin can be used to remove calcium impurities from saturated brine before it is used in chlor-alkali cells. In saturated brine, the resin also shows preference for calcium over mercury. Around pH 4 the resin shows preference for copper ions in binary mixtures of copper-zinc and copper-iron solutions. In a ternary system of aluminium, copper and magnesium in the ratio of 1:1:1, magnesium was not sorbed at all whereas the sorbed aluminium and copper could be eluted by alkali and acid respectively rendering a complete separation of these ions.
