摘要
It is necessary to have a clear understanding of the origins and causes of the emergence and proliferation of terrorism in order to prevent and fight it. The analysis of the socio-economic factors of its emergence and proliferation plays a considerable role in the development of measures to counteract terrorism and prevent acts of terror. Terrorism is an extreme threat to the public, political and economic stability of the state, it is complex and multi-dimensional. Thus, many research results indicate that it is only small groups of people, consisting of 25-50 individuals, who can organize violent terrorist attacks through personal contacts. Besides, unlawful violence of the governmental or non-governmental participants of the political process influences the structuring of power relations in society. Recent research allows to state that criminology and sociology are closely connected when it concerns terrorism counteraction. The authors researched the correlation between the levels of unemployment in 1990s and 2000s and the number of registered terrorist crimes in Northern Caucasus Federal District from 2009 to 2014, as well as between the relation of the average monthly gross wages to the general Russian level in the same period and the number of registered terrorist crimes from 2009 to 2014. The authors show that there is a considerable linear correlation between the number of registered terrorist crimes and the level of unemployment, as well as the value of the relation of the average monthly gross wages to the general Russian level in 1990s and 2000s. Besides, they identified correlations with the data that are 16-18 years old. Thus, when developing terrorism prevention programs it is necessary to take into account the standard of living in the region in the previous years.
