EFFECT OF GNRH-ANALOG TREATMENT WITH A DEPOT-PREPARATION IN PATIENTS WITH ENDOMETRIOSIS

52 patients with proven endometriosis by pelviscopy and histology were treated for 6 month with a depotpreparation containing 3,6 mg Goserelin monthly. The subjective symptoms improved fast and significantly and three quarters of the patients stayed free of symptoms during the follow-up period of six months. A control pelviscopy after treatment showed a reduction of size and amount of implants and cysts independent of the primary stage of endometriosis. The objective effectivity of this substance compares favorable with the most potent treatment schedules of the past. Treatment induced hypoestrogenic side effects were claimed in 35 to 85 percent of women - such as hot flushes, dryness of the vagina, sweating, decreased libido. Pathologic changes of metabolic parameters could not be observed.
