Professional ethics of Medical Information in the pharmaceutical industry: On the road to a Spanish code of good practice

Introduction: In Spain, the pharmaceutical industry is one of the leading providers of Medical Information services. Deeply committed to this service, the Medical Information Specialists (TIM, for its acronym in Spanish) miss an ethical framework to guide their activity and ensure the quality, equity and balance of information provided to healthcare professionals. Objective: On the way to a Spanish code of professional guidelines, the Medical Information Working Group of the Spanish Pharmaceutical Industry wants to introduce the ethical framework in which its deontological reflection is materialized. With this paper, the members of this forum also want to establish the starting point from which they face the publishing of an accessible text to all professionals and companies that provide and support their activities.
