Estimation of contrasts of oil slicks on the ocean surface measured in visible band of spectrum from space vehicles

摘要
The potentialities for improving the probability of oil slick detection through monitoring the same area from various directions is considered. Based on mathematical simulations for solar radiation transformation in system of the oceanic surface (oil slick) and the atmosphere, a conclusion on essential angular dependence of optical contrast between background and oil slick was reached. An appropriate sounding geometry is obtained for several spectral bands and various types of waters and atmosphere.
