UNIVERSAL LAW OF THE SPATIAL-PERIODIC NANO- AND MICRO-STRUCTURES EXCITATION DURING THE TRANSIENT COMBUSTION OF ENERGETIC MATERIALS

In connection with the development of a new generation of solid propulsion systems (SPS) with high energy and mass characteristics for various aerospace applications, the problem of prevention of combustion instability phenomena of the energetic materials (EM) has recently gained importance. The experimental data independently obtained by various authors and for various kinds of evaporated EM shows the same results - cellular structures are formed on the burning surface. This phenomenon has been the subject of many investigations over the last four decades; however, within the framework of classical combustion theory, an adequate explanation has not been attained for the mechanism of its excitation and development. Detailed analysis and mutual comparison of investigations executed in this area and detailed analysis of experimental data obtained in related areas of science and engineering have suggested a new mechanism of occurrence of this phenomenon. The proposed concept mainly connected the excitation of the synergetic dissipative spatialperiodic nano-and micro-structures (SPNMS) in the thin liquid-viscous layer on the surface of the burning EM. The process of the SPNMS formation influences the process of agglomeration and the spectrum of agglomerates on the burning surface of heterogeneous EM. Within the scope of suggested concept, the physicochemical processes taking place during the erosive burning of the EM offer a new explanation. Application of technologies, based on suggested concept will allow control on the development of physicochemical processes on the new qualitative level.
