DEVELOPING A WEB-BASED TOURIST INFORMATION SYSTEM USING SERVICE ORIENTED ARCHITECTURE

A Web-based tourist information system is developed that provides information about tourist attractions and other objects in a city. Every object has pictures, textual description, contact information and geo location coordinates specified by Google Maps API. The information system is based on Service Oriented Architecture implemented by means of Apache Open For Business framework. The functionalities of the proposed system include searching and viewing objects, sorting by type, location and by the shortest distance. It allows for routes consisting of various objects to be created by user and visualized using Google Maps. The created routes can be optimized by arranging the sequence of objects included. For this purpose the traveling salesman problem is solved by simulated annealing or by exhaustive enumeration. It is shown that simulated annealing is fast and efficiently optimizes the created route.
