摘要
Background. Magnesium is one of the most common elements in the human body. Its supplementation is often used for physical fitness gained greater and faster recovery after workouts. It also occurs in saliva, although its role in the oral environment is not fully understood. Objectives. Impact assessment of effort during progressive test for magnesium levels in resting mixed saliva collected before and after exercise, and in comparison with the concentrations of magnesium in people not practicing sports. Material and Methods. Study group consisted of 74 athletes (cyclists and students of Physical Education in Wroclaw before and after a progressive exercise test). The control group consisted of 43 men - not practicing sport professionally, who have not performed a progressive test. Mean age was 21.2 years. While studies have not given any fluids. Supernatant was used for the determination of resting mixed saliva. Magnesium concentration was determined photometrically, using a diagnostic kit Alpha Diagnostic (Magnesium Arsenazo reagent) at a wavelength of 550 nm. Results. The concentration of magnesium in the study group before exercise was 0.54 +/- 0.40 mg/dl and was significantly lower (p <= 0.01) when compared to the concentration of 0.71 +/- 0.42 mg/dl after the progressive test. In the control group the concentration of magnesium averaged 0.35 +/- 0.26 mg/dl and was significantly lower compared to values in the study group before and after the progressive test (p <= 0.01). Correlation analysis showed a negative co-variableness concentrations of magnesium, compared to the time of the work and its values in KJ and significant positive (p <= 0.001) between serum magnesium before exercise and the rate of secretion of saliva. Conclusions. Physical exertion during the progressive test increases the concentration of magnesium in the resting mixed saliva. Physical exertion during the progressive test significantly reduces saliva flow rate
