摘要：

Anatomical and physical-mechanical characteristics were investigated at samples of the mangrove species of Bruguiera gymnorrhiza and Rhizophora apiculata and compared to Fagus silvatica. The samples originate from Minh Hai, Vietnam. The two species can be assessed to be similar regarding microscopic features. Fibres of both of the species are as long as those of Fagus silvatica. However, the proportion of fibres is likely to be higher. The mangrove species are heavy, very strength to pressure and hard, Rhizophora apiculata having the higher values. Due to the considerable shrinking a careful air seasoning is recommended.
