ANAEROBIC PROCESSES IN THE NORTHEAST TROPICAL PART OF THE PACIFIC-OCEAN

The possibility of the anaerobic processes development in the north-east tropical part of the Pacific Ocean is under consideration based on observation data collected in 1984 - 1989. Analysis of hydrodynamic conditions and characteristics of the dissolved oxygen regime provides to distinguish a water layer in which the processes of denitrification and sulphate reduction exist and to define the influence of large scale currents and mesoscale synoptic formations on their structure. It is shown that in December 1987 - January 1988 sulphurated hydrogen was found in the area of research in ''trace'' quantities (0.09 - 0.32 mg/l) before anoxic was completed.
