摘要
The paradigm shift that has occurred over the past decade in the field of crisis response has resulted in confusion and controversy over what is considered best practice. Proponents of critical incident stress management/ debriefing (CISM/CISD) still consider the Mitchell model to reflect the highest standard of practice despite research to the contrary. However, with the rapid decline in popularity of CISM/CISD, new models are being created to replace the widening gap in the intervention arena. Most new models have yet to be subjected to RCT or studies. The nature of early intervention is not one that easily lends itself to study, especially those that are empirically based. However, best practice standards may evolve from evidence-based or evidence-informed techniques that incorporate skills and tools that are known to support recovery from reactions that are typically experienced in traumatic events. This article presents one such approach to early crisis intervention that utilizes a strengths-based perspective and natural support systems to promote recovery. (C) 2005 by The Haworth Press, Inc.
