Nursing care following the values and ethical principles of the profession

In their working environment, nurses face complex situations every day that reveal the importance of adopting formulas for decisions guided by the values and ethical principles of their profession. In the scientific literature, experts grant today's nursing with its own ethical referents with respect to the profession and teamwork, patients and their families, society and human rights. The adoption of values and principles specific to the profession in decision-making leads to high quality in the provision of nursing care, benefitting society and leading to professional excellence. Objectives. To establish, organize, and examine the meaning of the values and ethical principles that guide nursing practice today, to correlate the ethical referents in healthcare, and to highlight training in ethics and management of nursing services as key elements in the adoption of the values and principles of the profession in decision-making.
