APPLICATION OF AN OBJECT-ORIENTED ANALYSIS AND DESIGN METHODOLOGY TO ENGINEERING COST MANAGEMENT

Object-oriented systems development life-cycle methodologies are highly iterative in nature. They use top-down decomposition and bottom-up synthesis techniques concurrently. Complemented by a suitable notation, they provide a powerful framework in which flexible and reliable systems can be built. Here, an appropriate life-cycle methodology and notation are reviewed briefly and then used to develop and document the design of a cost-management system for a wastewater treatment plant that requires the integration of economic and engineering models.
