A Study on the Tourist Perception in the Province of Afyonkarahisar Undergoing Tourism Development

In this study, the perceptions of tourists towards tourism have been evaluated in the province of Afyonkarahisar. The study aimed at contributing to the city's tourism development and tourism planning by identifying profiles and thoughts of the tourists. A survey was conducted over 352 tourists who visited Afyonkarahisar to investigate economic, social, and demographic profiles of the tourists along with the areas they usually visit in the city. Identifying the opinions of the tourists about the tourism and tourism development in the city was also targeted in the survey. The survey results indicate that the tourists are generally happy to visit Afyonkarahisar. As concluded in the study, more green areas should be created, high-quality tourism facilities should be increased in number, and more importance should be given to the promotion of tourism in order to develop tourism in the city.
