WATER-SUPPLY IN SOUTH-AFRICA

The paper highlights the problems of water supply for a large country, most of which has an arid or semi-arid climate. Brief descriptions are given of the water supplies to the larger cities and to towns that have had to contend with rapidly rising demands and with limited resources. The greatest problem ahead is the need to ensure adequate supplies to rural communities.
