Acute Subdural Hematoma in the Contralateral Side After Surgery for Chronic Subdural Hematoma

A 44-year-old male patient was admitted with the complaints of persistent headaches and physical debility. He was diagnosed as having chronic subdural hematoma. The hematoma drainage was performed with only one burr-hole Acute subdural hematoma, more than 2 cm thickness was determined in the contra lateral side by the ongoing complaints of pain after 2nd day of surgery. This hematoma was urgently evacuated by craniotomy. Although it is possible to reveal this rare potential complications by computerized tomography in early post operative period (within first 12 hours), the authors emphasized the importance of such a rare complication in the early postoperative period.
