SYNTHESIS OF AMINO-ACID AMPHIPHILE DERIVATIVES AND LB FILMS BASED ON THEM

The current literature on amino acid-based amphiphiles has been reviewed with respect to their properties and application for the preparation of LB films. Certain correlations between the molecular structure and deposition behaviour resulting in stable polar Z-type LB films are reported. The resolution of racemic mixtures through diastereomeric interactions between the chiral monolayers and enantiomers in the subphase is described. The design of novel alpha- and beta-amino acid-based surfactants, potential materials for polar Z-type LB films is reported. The first examples of these amphiphiles, containing mono- and diacetylenic groups have been synthesized.
