摘要
We report detailed calculations of the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation of isotopic impurities (HD) in solid hydrogen. Experimentally, a temperature-independent relaxation is observed at low temperatures and is attributed to quantum tunneling of HD impurities. The pronounced minimum observed at intermediate temperatures is associated with the interruption of quantum tunneling by scattering from thermally excited vacancies. The theoretical calculations are compared with recent experimental measurements and provide a severe test of the microscopic model for the motion of point defects in quantum crystals.
