摘要
This paper shows that the full guided mode expansion method and the optimized sine method, with a rather ''rigorous'' procedure of determing the dimensions of reference waveguides, provide simple, fast and accurate way for the scalar analysis of arbitrarily shaped optical waveguides. Use of a smaller matrix results in good agreement with previous works.
