摘要
A chemical examination of Turkish galls (Quercus lustitanica) has led to the isolation of four C-glycosidic hydrolyzable tannins, among which three were found to be identical with the known compounds pterocarinin A [1], castalagin [2], and castavaloninic acid [4]. The structure of the new tannin, isocastavaloninic acid [5], was established on the basis of spectroscopic and chemical evidence. The complete assignment of the structure of castavaloninic acid [4], including the absolute stereostructure and the orientation of the valoneayl group, is also described. © 1990, American Chemical Society.
