摘要
Tn5-induced avirulent mutants derived from the virulent GMI1229 strain of Pseudomonas solanacearum were investigated as possible antagonists for the control of bacterial wilt of tomato. Significant protection was obtained by making simultaneous or sequential root inoculations, when the relative inoculum ratio of virulent to avirulent cells was equal to or lower than, 0·1. Under conditions favourable for disease development, the virulent strain failed to multiply within the plant when inoculated together with different Tn5-induced avirulent mutants, which multiplied to some degree. Although some mutants were invasive, most of them showed reduced colonization and multiplication within the host compared with the virulent strain. The use of Tn5-induced avirulent mutants as biological agents for the control of bacterial wilt is discussed. © 1990.
