PREDICTING THE PERFORMANCE OF 3D X-RAY COMPUTERIZED-TOMOGRAPHY SYSTEMS

摘要
A model is presented that predicts contrast detectability and resolvability in 3D X-ray computerized tomography images as a function of X-ray source energy, area detector type, data collection hardware, and other system parameters. The model has been found to agree well with experimental observation and to compare favorably with prior theoretical models. This model is used to evaluate the performance of eight different area detector configurations in a micro-focus X-ray system used to inspect small ceramic components. Predicted performance is consistent with that of known systems and serves to illustrate the complexity of imaging system design.
